Buyer Protection/Extended Warranty
The Buyer Protection Program coverage, Purchase Guard and Extended Warranty provides extra protection for your purchases made through your MasterPlan Plus package account.
Purchase Guard covers most retail purchases made anywhere in Canada or the United States. The coverage begins at the time of purchase and continues for 90 days protecting purchases against loss, theft, fire or accidental damage.
Extended Warranty doubles the repair period on a manufacturer's authorized Canadian warranty up to an extra year for virtually all purchases made in Canada or the Continental US (some exclusions apply). For example, if you purchase a product using your MasterPlan Plus package account which has a 90-day warranty repair period, it would be extended to 180 days. If you purchase a product which has a five-year warranty repair period, an additional one-year warranty coverage would be provided. There is no coverage if the warranty period exceeds five years.
If damage occurs after the original warranty has expired and within the extended warranty period, the Credit Union will reimburse either the account holder or the authorized service centre for repair or replacement, up to the amount charged to purchase the item.
The limit of insurance is $5,000 per covered account per year.
